Why does the new year begin in winter
The world awakens on a spring time day
Like the one I still remember
Your head on my shoulder
Your voice whispering my name
Wheels keep rolling, summer follows
Fish are jumping, and the sun’s ablaze
We wished those days would never end
Autumn’s coming round the bend
Your voice still whispering my name
Autumn days bring on peace and quiet
Leaves take on a kind of glaze
One by one they begin to drop
Get to thinking bout closing up shop
Come what may, you’re whispering my name
Winter’s the perfect time for a year to end
Smoke from chimneys floats up and away
An icy wonderworld and we snuggle in
Blankets pulled up round our chins
The warmth of your voice whispering my name
