Soft Winds

Bill Soden

Kicking back beside the lake
Central mountains of Maine
Lakeside cabin, Adirondack chair
Cocktail on the tray
Late afternoon, a quiet time
Feel a memory from long ago
Across the lake I see a someone
I never got to know

Soft winds whisper that face
Someone I can’t forget
I never even met
Soft winds whisper that face
Soft winds are whispering that
time and that place
That face

Euro child Riviera
Young, she worked the innocence of sin
She had the look of summer love
Everything that might have been
She jumped on her Vespa
Woosh she was gone
She left behind her laughter
Hung in the air like a song
