Hauling my logging truck cross Alberta
Land out here lies flat as a table top
Miles and miles, an endless sea of grasses
Waves of grain don’t never ever stop
Picked her up, she was hitching to Vancouver
Backpack and jeans and a sunrise smile
She was real pretty, pretty as a picture
Thought bout lovin that young thing a while
Found a prairie rose in Alberta
Prairie rose, wild prairie rose
Found a prairie rose in Alberta
Prairie rose, wild prairie rose
Sometimes I still think of that child
Out there somewhere, growing wild
Bought her a meat and three at a truck stop
Then we turned in for the night
She slept in the berth, me I slept behind the wheel
To all the other drivers, most unusual sight
Mountains in the distance, said I was heading south
We both stepped down out of the truck
Said our good-byes, left a lot unsaid
I wished her a whole lot of luck
