Driving up the Kelly as the Schuylkill rolls on by
Statues by the road watch down on me
Guys still out there rowing like in Thomas Eakins’ time
I’m back home now, I feel it live and breathe
Towns and cities big and small, always moving around
But here is where my truths come crystal clean
All my youth and growing up took place upon these grounds
Nowhere else comes dancing in my dreams
I am Philly born and raised
Suburban roads, back alleyways
Some ghetto and some ivy and some music on the way
Philadelphia born and raised
Stone Philly born and raised
Some ghetto and some ivy and some music on the way
Digging holes with my dog Dandy, stories on the radio
High school love, hot bodies grinding there
Had my share of wins and losses, found out how things go
Heard that Philly accent ringing through the air
