My Last Dream was Stillborn

Bill Soden

I’m downstairs, buzz me in
Raining cats and dogs, must look a sight
Been wandering round downtown
Half the night

When you answered my cell call
I thanked God you were home
Needed company real real bad
Couldn’t take tonight alone

My last dream was stillborn
Can’t seem to catch a break
Promise come the first light
I’ll be on my way

I’ll sleep out on the sofa
I know the way by heart
Kind of used to sleeping there
As we fell apart

Cards’ll break better next time
I got my life in hand
Quitting town, heading west
I got big plans
