Mary lived alone on the Upper Missouri River
Her husband passed, she was still in her prime
She made ends meet working at the local schoolhouse
Wanting Montana stars to fall in line
He pulled in her driveway, in his pickup and his boots
Explained he just dropped by to say hello
She’d heard some guy bought the place down the road a piece
She felt her heart begin to glow
Montana, Montana memories
Took root that very day
Montana, Montana memories
Wildflowers spreading cross the plains
(Reaching mountain range)
She served up some biscuits and some fresh made coffee
Stretched out her legs, knew he’d have to look
She was sure enough a damn fine looking woman
She was country, knew to bait and set the hook
He was long and lean a little rough around the edges
She knew he could be smoothed out with time
Down deep inside lay a warm dark handsome man
Shining like a newly minted dime
