Last Time I Saw Savannah
We we were holding tight together
Was early in September
Not a whole lot to say
Next day she’d sure be leaving
Real early in the morning
She’d get up and get going
Catch the early plane
Last time I saw Savannah
No more rolling in the clover
Summertime was over
Never gonna see her again
She was heading off to school
Leaving me in nowhereville
Love crumbled into dust
And flew off in the wind
Savannah, Oh Savannah, Savannah
Your name’s lingering in my mind
Savannah, Oh Savannah, Savannah
Come whispering through the Georgia pines
Last time I saw Savannah
Said she’d be home that winter
I never did believe her
The season came and went
Still I wonder how she’s doing
See her in my mind’s eye
From time to time
Every now and then
