Dancing on Daddy’s Shoes

Bill Soden & Stan "Feld" Schwartz

We laid him to rest in the old church yard
Daddy met his Maker in the sky
Final words were spoken, I couldn’t hide the tears
They came streaming to my eyes
So many memories, rushing back to me
Than a special one came smiling through
That’s when I remembered being a little girl
And dancing on daddy’s shoes
Dancing on daddy’s shoes

Dancing on Daddy’s shoes
Dancing on Daddy’s shoes
He was strong he was tender
I’ll always remember
Dancing on daddy’s shoes

I was just a child of five but every Friday night
We’d get together all the family
Brother Bobby played the guitar, fiddle man was grandpa
Everybody joined in harmony
I’d put my little feet on top of daddy’s shoes
Two strong hands would glide me round the room
Through the good times and the bad times
We always had the music
And I danced on daddy’s shoes
I danced on daddy’e shoes

I’m a full grown woman now with children of my own
But that little girl still lives inside me too
I hope she’s always right there, helping me remember
Dancing on daddy’s shoes
Dancing on daddy’s shoes
